Ropes courses, sledding, XTREME scavenger hunts, “SURVIVOR” campouts, retreats, and mission trips help teens deepen their faith, nurture their relationships, serve Christ and have fun!
YOUTH GROUP
Sundays, 6:00– 7:30 pm
Fellowship Hall
Teens in grades 7-12 meet weekly with youth group leaders, Trish & Landy Gilbert, in Fellowship Hall. Each week, they discuss topics of faith, build community and play crazy church games. Friends are welcome!
WINTER RETREAT
Weekend in February
The winter retreat allows our teens to meet with other UCC Youth Groups and provides a fun and educational forum for learning more about their faith.
Youth Group – Meetings starting on Sunday evening, September 18th from 6pm to 8pm. Landy and Trish Gilbert will be leading the our church’s wild and wise youth experience again this year. It will include a simple dinner, discussion, crazy games, and time to share experiences and visions. Rev. Rusty and Alex Hainses will be leading a Confirmation class prior to the meeting for those in 7th and 8th grade.
Cardboard City for Youth – Friday, Sept. 30th
Our youth group will be taking part in a “Cardboard City” this month, to raise money and awareness of issues of homelessness in our area. Youth and leaders sleep overnight in cardboard boxes, and dine from a soup-line to connect with the struggle of homelessness. (They will ask sponsors to donate to them for this event.) This event benefits the programs of Family Promise of Monmouth County, and helps boost public awareness of local homelessness. Family Promise runs church-based shelters for local homeless families. If you have a really big cardboard box, please hold onto it, and give it to Rev. Rusty and/or members of the youth group. Thanks!
CONFIRMATION CLASS
This class for 7th and 8th grade students is taught by Reverend Rusty. The class provides a year-long overview of essential themes in the Christian tradition and our own church. It also includes activities such as visiting churches of other traditions, community service, and retreats. At the successful completion of the program, the confirmands choose whether to affirm their baptismal vows and to become members of the congregation.
Youth group will begin on Sunday Sept 18th. We will be following the confirmation schedule as closely as possible. The majority of our sessions will be
High School students and those not doing confirmation class : meet at 5:45 Fellowship Hall- we will do a study geared toward HS students
Confirmation students will join us at 6:15 when we will share a meal
Games/ team building/ projects will run from 6:45 – 7:30
All are Sundays starting at 5:45 (6:15 for confirmation students) unless otherwise noted
