Staff

Our employees are an integral part of how we support our members and the wider community.

Reverend Russell (Rusty) Eidmann-Hicks
Rev. Rusty graduated from Yale Divinity School and was ordained in 1982.  He has served inner city churches, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and food banks; and was the founding director of Project Learn in Bridgeport, CT, of an after-school, tutoring program for inner-city kids.   He has also served suburban churches in Wilton, CT and Summit, NJ.   He is married to Martha, who is also an ordained UCC minister and a psychotherapist with her own private practice in the area.  Their daughter, Suzie, is attending Colts Neck High School.   He has been privileged to serve as pastor of the Holmdel Community UCC since 1991.  He and Martha enjoy traveling, biking and hiking, reading and gardening.

Susan Muhler, Minister of Music
Susan Muhler lives in Freehold Township with her husband Hans and 3 active boys, Karl,  Eric and Liam.  She attended the United Church of Christ in Wisconsin as a child, her father was the director of the choir, and her aunt later became the organist.  Susan is a classically trained pianist but she never expected to follow in her family’s footsteps so closely.  Susan brings a vitality and enthusiasm to the church’s music program which infects everyone.  One can really appreciate this point by looking at the choir loft each Sunday - Standing Room Only!  Over the  years Susan has also helped dozens of children learn to read – and love – music through the children’s choir, aptly dubbed the Joyful Noisemakers.

Amanda Spagnolia, Church School Director
Amanda Spagnolia is an Assistant School Director at the Goddard School and brings her love of children and teaching to our programs.   She holds Bachelor’s and Masters Degrees in Education.  She fully enjoys her role which is evidenced most Sundays as she leads the “Children’s Message” – where all the young people gather at her feet and she presents that day’s sermon in easy to understand stories, puppet shows and humor.  She lives in Freehold with her husband Frank, and two boys Timothy and C.J.  She finds working with children of various ages very rewarding.  She greatly enjoys getting to be a part of their earliest Sunday school experiences and watching while their faith grows and develops.  Under Amanda’s guidance, a dedicated group of volunteer teachers offer creative and engaging curriculum which provide children with meaningful and fun experiences to grow in their faith.

Kam Kwong, Church Secretary
Kam comes to our church secretary position with a great deal of expertise, from the business world, from her excellent education, and from experience in her own church.   She has redesigned many of our church’s communications and is handling the complexities of multitudes of demands with limited resources.   Come by the church office to say hello.
